I thought I would share a “cut and paste” response I have developed as an answer to the daily barrage of fund raising emails I get from the Democratic Party, progressives, some political candidates, and from progressive/liberal organizations.
Here is the text:
“I am a lifelong member of the Democratic Party (I’m 72). I consider myself a Progressive and even somewhat of a socialist. I am also a Jew and a Zionist (a Progressive Zionist). I believe that Donald Trump and his MAGA cult followers are a threat to our Democracy. BUT: I will not, cannot, give money to anyone that accepts and repeats the heinous lies currently being told about Israel. “Genocide in Gaza” is a LIE. “Apartheid in Israel” is a LIE. The “occupation of the west bank” (actually Samaria/Judea) is a LIE. The belief that “the palestinians are an oppressed people” is a LIE (and in fact their identity “palestinian” is just propaganda. They are arabs who migrated into Israel attracted by Jewish economic development. All of them have sur-names indicating they originate elsewhere). Bottom line, I cannot /will not donate money to any person or group who lie about Israel and about Jews. Trump lies all the time. In fact, he cannot open his mouth without spewing forth a lie. Why are you being like Trump when it comes to Israel? Shame on you.”
I tweak it a little, depending on who I am sending it to and the context of their email. If you should decide to use it as well, feel free to customize it as you feel fit.
